This small green oasis, in what would otherwise be a neglected area, demonstrates what can be achieved when two enthusiastic and committed neighbours set out to green a grey space close to home.
The project was kick started when two alleygates were installed at the back of their properties to reduce access and anti-social behaviour. The friends embarked on a project to create a haven of horticultural excellence and peace and quiet for themselves and their neighbours.
Since they began their work, a young girl at the end of the street has also become involved and is enjoying growing her own plants and learning about the environment. The feature is has received a level 5 Outstanding (for six consecutive years) and in 2018 won the RHS best alley in the north west award.
