Rochdale in Bloom is a community based, volunteer led organisation dedicated to brightening up Rochdale for residents and visitors alike.
Since 2010 we’ve devoted our efforts to building community links, tackling gaps in social infrastructure and creating a green environment for Rochdale residents to take pride and get involved in.
Our founding members have used their enthusiasm to empower and impassion an ever-increasing number of volunteer organisations to take up the clean and green challenge. Our bloomers include primary and secondary schools, community groups and charities, Friends groups, as well as individuals who brighten up their streets and businesses. Our volunteers come from every corner of Rochdale with representatives from 4-94 years old. We’re an inclusive group with members from all ethnic and religious backgrounds and a range of political persuasions.
Our members use their time, expertise and sheer determination to bring colour and life to the whole of Rochdale. Some have a passion for food growing, others a flair for creating blooming displays. Together, our endeavours have an enormous impact on Rochdale and make it a better place for all.
In 2010 our entry featured just two ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ sites. Now, ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ judging takes over two days and shows 50 different sites. This is on top of the groups that are featured in our North West judging day.
From recycling to conservation and bio-diversity, Rochdale feels strongly about its duty to protect the environment.
Applying knowledge, skills, and technologies to grow food and plants for social benefit. Community
Building strong community connections and links with local and national businesses.
At our heart we support the UN Sustainable Development Goals and aim to improve health and education, reducing inequality and tackling climate change.
