Petrus is a local charity that help the homeless community by offering a range of support services to individuals. PIER was founded as a means of providing meaningful activity for Petrus service users that would improve their health and wellbeing, help them to engage with the wider community and gain skills and experience.

In 2015 they gained a piece of wasteland which service users, the public and various groups and organisations have transformed into a thriving community garden well utilized as a place to grow, learn and relax. They offer volunteering opportunities, structured group sessions for schools and organisations and a gardening on prescription scheme.

In 2019 they focused on their relationships with neighbours, particularly the Kashmir Youth Project Elders Group, celebrating the diversity within our culture and sharing our resources to make our neighbourhood a friendlier place to live. The garden is now a place that the whole community feel belongs to them.

In 2019 they exhibited a double back to back show garden at the Tatton Flower Show and brought the silver award winning exhibit back to Rochdale for people to enjoy for years to come.
