The Growth Project started growing in 2008. They work with local people who suffer from mental health problems and are situated in one of the most deprived areas of Rochdale. Open two days a week, they attract 20 service users per day.
They grow on over an acre of land next to the River Roch and grow everything including our half hardy annuals from seed each year. The three R’s are of the uttermost importance to the group who recycle everything they can, water harvest, collect own seed and make compost. They have very strong links with the local community as they have changed their actual outlook from their own windows from one of dereliction to a beautiful garden. They open their garden in August under the National Garden Scheme thus supporting local and national charities and also by appointment with horticultural and local interest groups coming to visit our project from all over the North West.
